The ETF Board runs a head office in Colombo and 19 regional offices. Together they cover every district. Regional offices take employer payments, member claim forms and complaints about unpaid contributions. The head office handles policy, welfare-scheme decisions and anything a regional office cannot resolve. The list below is exactly as listed by the ETF Board on 20 September 2026, with the source page for each entry.

Source: ETF Board, Contact Us and Branch Network (etfb.lk/contact-us/, etfb.lk/branch-network-english/), as listed by the ETF Board on 20 September 2026. Regional office emails follow the pattern shown on etfb.lk (for example mgrkan@etfb.lk for Kandy). Check the address shown against your own district on etfb.lk if you need the exact email. The pattern differs slightly office to office.

Which office handles employer registration

There is no separate ETF employer registration. Your EPF employer number from the Department of Labour is what the ETF uses (ETF employer guide). Once you have that number, your regional office is the one that maintains your employer file. That is the office covering the district where your business is registered. It receives paper contribution forms and answers questions about your account, not the head office.

Which office handles member claims

The ETF Board’s branch network page says regional offices are where members “submit claim applications, check ETF balance and obtain relevant information”. Members can also “lodge their complaints against the respective employers for nonpayment of contributions, underpayments and delayed payments” there (etfb.lk/branch-network-english/). A leaving employee should usually take their withdrawal claim to the regional office covering their last employer’s district. Or they can use their own home district. The branch network page does not say which takes priority. If you are not sure which applies to you, ask your nearest office directly.

What to bring to a branch visit

  • National Identity Card.
  • ETF/EPF member number (from a payslip, or from the employer).
  • For an employer visit: the business registration and EPF employer number.
  • For a claim: the relevant claim form. Use Form VI for a standard withdrawal, or the death-claim or welfare-scheme form that applies, plus any supporting certificate from the employer.

What can be done online instead

Employers can pay contributions online. Many can also skip the paper Form II filing by using eservices.etfb.lk or a participating bank’s corporate portal. See how to pay ETF online and our note on the ETF half-yearly return. Members can check their balance online through the channels the Board publishes on etfb.lk. But a first-time withdrawal claim still needs the paper claim form and the employer’s certificate. So it is not fully paperless for most leavers. See ETF benefits for employees for what a member can actually claim.

Do this automatically in Humanised

Most of what people visit a branch for, such as member lists and contribution records, comes out of payroll software instead. Humanised keeps the ETF contribution history and member numbers that a branch visit or a claim usually needs. See payroll software for Sri Lanka.

This is general payroll guidance. Every case is different. For your own case, speak to a payroll practitioner or a lawyer.

Frequently asked questions

I went to the wrong ETF branch. Can they still help me?

A branch outside your district may not hold your employer or member file. Expect to be redirected to the correct regional office. Confirm the right one on etfb.lk/contact-us/ before travelling.

My business moved to a different district. Do I need to tell the ETF Board?

Yes. Your regional office is assigned by district. So report a change of business address, and your employer file will move to the correct office. Contact your current regional office to start this.

I have lost my employer number. Which office can help?

Your regional office, or the head office contribution section, can trace it from your business registration details. Bring your business registration certificate.

Can I email an ETF office instead of visiting?

Yes. Each regional office has its own email address, shown on etfb.lk/contact-us/ (for example mgrkan@etfb.lk for Kandy). Check the current page for your district’s exact address, since these can change.

Are the head office and the Colombo regional offices in the same building?

Yes, as listed by the ETF Board on 20 September 2026. The head office sits at “Mehewara Piyesa”, Kirula Road, Narahenpita, Colombo 05. So do the Colombo District, Colombo 1-7 and Colombo 8-15 regional offices. They are just on different floors.

What is the fastest way to check which office covers my area?

Use the district name, not the town. The Board groups regional offices by administrative district (for example, “Kegalle” covers the Kegalle district). etfb.lk/contact-us/ lists them by district name.
