Who builds each product
Humanised is an HR and payroll platform built in Colombo and launched in 2020, only for Sri Lanka, for companies of 5 to 5,000 employees: payroll compliance at the core, attendance devices, leave, contracts, an employee app and QuickBooks or Xero posting, on three published flat tiers with no setup fee.
Better HR is a regional HR SaaS from Better Technologies Pte. Ltd., incorporated in Singapore with offices in Yangon, Colombo, Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh, founded in 2019. It sells one plan with every module included, priced per active user, across nine Asian countries, and its Sri Lanka edition names APIT Tables 1 and 2, EPF, ETF, the EPF C-form, the ETF bank format and Form 2.

On licence alone Better HR is cheaper at 15, 30 and 50 staff if its published price is unchanged: at 30 employees the difference is about LKR 13,000 a month on annual billing. Where the two differ for a Sri Lankan payroll
Both products calculate EPF, ETF and APIT. The differences are in what happens around the calculation. Humanised generates the EPF C-form, the ETF R4 and the T10 and annual statement, applies stamp duty, issues payslips in Sinhala, and produces bank transfer files for the main Sri Lankan banks. Better HR’s Sri Lanka page names the EPF C-form, an ETF bank format and Form 2; it does not name stamp duty, T10 or Sinhala payslips. Accountants running several clients can keep each company under one Humanised login and post each payroll to QuickBooks or Xero; Better HR publishes no accounting integration.
Which one should you choose?
Choose Humanised if…
- Your business is only in Sri Lanka and you want the returns (C-form, R4, T10), Sinhala payslips and bank files done inside payroll, not exported to Excel.
- Your accountant works in QuickBooks or Xero and wants payroll posted automatically.
- You want ZKTeco or HikVision devices, rosters, digital contracts and HR letters in the same system as payroll, with phone support in Sri Lanka.
Choose Better HR if…
- You have staff in more than one Asian country and want one system and one bill for all of them.
- Your headcount is small and stable, you need basic payroll and leave, and the lowest published per-employee price decides it.
- You already use Better HR’s tools and want the same vendor’s payroll with no learning curve.
Switching from Better HR to Humanised
We import the employee master, salary structures, year-to-date figures, leave balances, EPF and ETF numbers and bank details from Better HR’s Excel or CSV export, run one cycle in parallel with line-by-line reconciliation of EPF, ETF, APIT and net pay, and cut over at month start or 1 April. Keep your archived payslips and returns for the retention period. Two to three weeks is typical and there is no setup fee; check your own Better HR billing term, since annual plans may be prepaid.
